Braille
Letter Challenge
You know many words. Can you think of one that contains two specific letters?
A word is hidden in a strange construction. Can you find it?
In this 2-player activity, one child hides a word in a LEGO construction, the other has to find the hidden letter bricks and make a word.
To develop vocabulary through manipulation of braille and classic bricks in a creative construction activity.
1 alphabet baseplate
classic 2×4 LEGO bricks
1 bowl
1
Ask player 1 to think of a 3 or 4-letter word and find the letter-bricks to spell it.
2
Then they must hide the braille bricks of their word inside a construction they build from classic 2 x 4 LEGO bricks.
3
Ask player 2 to find the braille bricks hidden inside the construction and write a word with all the letter bricks they find.
4
Get both players to compare and discuss the words each of them has written with the same letters.
So there you have a construction,
you’re going to have to demolish it.
All the bricks that are ordinary,
you put them in this bowl,
and you keep only the bricks
in braille.
Here we go.
I’m sorry, I think I’ve already got it a little bit…
demolished.
Only the bricks that are in braille,
I keep them.
Do you want me to take them?
-Yes, go ahead.
And with these five,
you have to form a word.
‘N’, ‘O’…
‘Pano’! Ah, no…
Ah! Piano!
Pia…
Oh my. Pia-no !
There you go.
It works,
well done!
Change the number of letters in the word.
Ask each player to imagine a story in which their word is the highlight of the adventure.
