Hidden Word
A word is hidden in a strange construction. Can you find it?
Help, all the words are stuck together! Can you separate them and find their meaning?
Empty spaces are as important as letters! Without them, all the words get lost.
To develop the concept of leaving spaces between words through identification and separation of words.
1 empty baseplate
an alphabet baseplate:
Sort the bricks alphabetically, with stacks of 2 identical letters, so that children and adult get to the bricks easily.
1
Ask player 1 to write 3 words in a row on the baseplate, without leaving spaces between them.
Tell player 2 to read the letters and identify words from left to right.
2
Ask them to remove all of the words and write them in a column .
I have written a few words on the base plate.
You just have to take all the bricks to rewrite the words that I have written.
But leaving spaces,
of course, between them.
Okay.
Just one thing:
you cannot change the order of the letter.
They were in that order.
Okay.
Done.
Okay.
So all the words mean something?
Yeah.
So what is the first one?
That is ‘sports’.
Okay.
So I know that word okay.
I’m not really sure what it is
but the letters are ‘N’…
No. ‘U’, ‘N’,
‘B’,’R’,’O’.
-And what is the last one?
“Those”.
That’s a word.
And can you try to change some elements
so that we have three words?
I can give you
a clue saying that
the last one is related to family.
So what’s the word?
‘Brothers’!
Yeah.
Okay.
Can you do something
and maybe change the space
between the words?
This word and this word, maybe
can you change the space
so that they become
two real words.
Not changing the order.
Just the space.
“Sun’!
That’s the word.
And does the first word still mean something?
Yes, ‘sport’.
So we have,
can you repeat all the words, please?
‘Sport’, ‘sun’, ‘brothers’.
Great.
Suggest mandatory letters to player 1, or specify that words must be verbs, nouns or adjectives, relative to current lessons.
Ask player 2: What was your strategy to manipulate bricks, displace words and reposition them?
