Will you find all the bricks with dot 1?

Goals

To identify dot 1 within a braille cell. 
To develop the tactile exploration of dots on a brick.

The adult prepares

  • 1 baseplate

  • 10 random bricks in a bowl

The children play

The child finds a brick that has a dot 1 and place it on the baseplate.

Bricks may have other dots in addition to dot 1.

They repeat the action until they have found all the bricks with dot 1.

Facilitation tips

  • Revise the position of the dots in the braille cell with an egg carton.

  • Make sure the children place the brick in the right position, on the baseplate.

  • Try the activity with other specific dots.

  •  Increase the number of dots to be found, for example dot 1 and dot 2.
