The more identical number-bricks you find on the baseplate, the more chances you have of winning.

Goals

Find, identify and collect specific number bricks on a baseplate in a peer-play activity.

The adult prepares

  • 1 baseplate with a number-sign brick at the top left corner

  • 12 number bricks (2×1, 2×2… 2x 6)

  • 2 bowls

  • 1 dice

Place all the number bricks anywhere on the baseplate, in various positions (vertical, horizontal)

The children play

1

Tell Player 1 to roll the dice, read the number and search the baseplate for all the bricks with the same number, then take the bricks they find off the baseplate, and put them in their bowl.

2

Player 2 follows the same instructions.
Both players take turns until there are no bricks left on the baseplate.

The player with the most bricks wins.

Facilitation tips

  • Place uneven numbers of identical bricks.

  • Allow time for exploration.
