Manipulate and combine braille bricks to create the most numbers possible.

Goals

To recognise place value.
To play with numbers.

The adult prepares

  • 1 baseplate with a number sign at the top left corner

  • 18 number bricks: 6 x 1, 6 x 2, 6 x 3 in a bowl    

The children play

Tell the child to write on the baseplate as many numbers as they can using 3 different number bricks. Ex: 123, 321, 231…

Facilitation tips

  • Using tangible materials makes the activity easier. Moving the numbers around makes it easier for children to explore all the possibilities. 

  • Change the number and/or value of bricks.

  •  Suggest to read the numbers in ascending order, guess the highest/lowest number…
